Bioprocessing Workshop

Writer's picture: Maciej SzaleniecMaciej Szaleniec

Between the 19th and 21st of June in our Bioprocess Development Laboratory, we conducted a Bioprocessing Workshop for 24 scientists.

During the workshop, the participants conducted cultivation of Pseudomonas putida accumulating PHA bioplastics and high-density cell cultivation of E. coli that was expressing recombinant enzyme. The training encompassed the preparation and sterilization of fermenters, the whole cultivation process, centrifugation of biomass and its preservation in liquid nitrogen.

The practical training was accompanied by an introductory lecture on biofermentation delivered by a renowned microbiologist, prof. Johann Heider from Philipps-Universität Marburg.
